description: This layer represents point locations for areas associated with federally recognized tribal entities in Virginia that do yet have boundaries in the Census American Indian, Alaska Native, Native Hawaii (AIANNH) feature class. Changes: May 28, 2026: No updates were made to the Virginia Federally Recognized Tribes layer. It was discovered that the 2025 Census geodatabase has three records with matching names for Chickahominy Tribe, VA, Chickahominy Indians Eastern Division, and Rappahannock Tribe, VA. However, they are the Tribal Designated Statistical Areas (TDSAs). According to Census’s Help Desk for the Census TIGER/Line data, TDSAs are statistical areas created by the tribe and the Census Bureau through its Participant Statistical Areas Program (PSAP); TDSAs are not depictions of reservations or trust lands.
